The William J. von Liebig Mentoring Award
All faculty members who supervise summer research students in biology, chemistry and physics are eligible to receive a $1,000 summer stipend. Faculty applications are due by February 1 and should identify the student, a brief description of the project and the source of student funding. If the student funding is being sought from the von Liebig program funds, the student application and the faculty application for a mentoring award should be submitted together. The evaluation of applications will be conducted internally. All applicants who are funded will be funded at one student before any are funded for a second. Students must complete safety training, and the mentors must fill out the safety survey, before either student or faculty is paid.
Faculty who have been awarded a Mentoring Award will be expected to submit a report of the summer activities by September 15. Failure to do so will impact the success of future applications.
Approved by von Liebig Committee February 10, 2006.
